Lost

I got the idea for this weeks Illustration Friday topic from something that happened a few years ago.

I was living in Tampa, Florida at the time and one morning on my way to class at University, I noticed a bright pink Flamingo flying around over-head. It struck me as odd that one solitary flamingo would be flying around, considering they are flocking birds. It also struck me as odd that he was so very pink. I've seen wild flamingo's and not very many are as shocking pink as ones you'd see in a zoo.

I never heard anything again about the flamingo, either on television or the interweb.

It was altogether quite odd....

[I started working on this one at a really large size (7.5"x17") so the thumbnail view may look a bit crap]

Here's the original ink drawing I started off with...

Fantastic colors, perspective, lines, concept. I also just like the idea of flamingoes being lost in the desert....Overall great job!

Hah, love the conflict between the top and bottom sections! The flamingoes look too proud of themselves anyway :) Great image!

Ah...can't get much more lost than this! I love the progression of colors from the top to the bottom. It takes a moment to realize the full impact of the situtaion! Well done :>
